"In the Summer of 2019 we undertook a piece of research called “Flocks” to understand more deeply some of the key communities that use Twitter in the UK. One of the communities that stood out in terms of its size, inter-connectivity and importance in shaping culture was the LGBTQ+ community and in particular we observed how Twitter was seen as a space to connect with others in a way that people often can’t offline.

We felt that it was important to understand even more about this and so off the back of this initial research we undertook a new project to surface and delve into the dynamics of LGBTQ+ discourse on Twitter."
